Wood is Beautiful
Wood is Beautiful
My journey in the world of woodcarving began in Ghana, where I was born and raised in a family with a rich tradition of woodcarving. At the age of seventeen, I embarked on a transformative apprenticeship with a master woodcarver in the picturesque Volta region of Ghana. Remarkably, my apprenticeship was cut short after just four years, as my innate talent for carving became evident
Since then, my passion for creating exquisite wood sculptures, furniture, and commissioned pieces has taken me on a remarkable artistic journey. I've showcased my unique and captivating creations in galleries and art centers throughout Accra, the vibrant capital of Ghana. In 1999, I crossed continents to make Colorado my home, where I have continued to refine my craft, consistently producing stunning works of art
My creations are a harmonious fusion of time-honored African techniques and contemporary design, reflecting my deep connection to my cultural roots. I maintain a strong link to my origins, frequently returning to Ghana to immerse myself in the source of my inspiration
If you seek a woodcarver who possesses a solid foundation in the traditional art of African woodcarving, blended with a contemporary style that seamlessly complements modern homes and businesses, your search ends here. I am Kofi Danso, a wood sculptor specializing in African wood sculpting, architectural carvings, wood signs, western carvings, and floral designs.
